Coming Up For Air

An exchange market implies inequality. If all values were equal, there would be no reason to exchange anything. If apples and oranges were of perfectly equal value, no one would purchase either because there would be no choice mechanism between the two. If a man’s or a woman’s labor were perfectly equal at the same task, say landscaping, neither would be hired or paid since there is no preference between the two. If all things are absolutely equal in every way, choice is not possible. In such a situation, values are destroyed and choice must be replaced by force and coercion. Equality means nihilism and slavery.
